IMGeospatial Invited onto Prestigious World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC)
Global Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) formed in move to increase influence on policy-makers worldwide. ESRI founder Jack Dangermond announces launch at UN headquarters, New York August 1st, 2018
We were delighted last week to learn that IMGeospatial has been invited to sit on the prestigious Global Geospatial Industry Council, launched by ESRI founder Jack Dangermond at UN headquarters, New York August 1st.
As Dangermond explained during his speech, the role of WGIC will be to facilitate the exchange of knowledge within the geospatial industry and develop business opportunities. Furthermore, given there are certain policy restraints that limit private sector participation, WGIC will also seek to raise awareness among policymakers and advocate for appropriate, targeted investments in the geospatial sector.
Considering the announcement was made during the 8th session of the UN-GGIM (United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management), it’s clear that the council, co-founded by over 20 leading industry companies, has the ability to assist the geospatial industry become a significant contributor to the world economy.
This endorsement of IMGeospatial and our disruptive approach to the industry shows that private sector companies like ours are making automated business intelligence the driving force to support critical policy decisions.
